ABC 'Makeover' repeat tops ho-hum Sunday

A night of repeats on ABC made for a ho-hum Sunday night overall in primetime.

CBS drew a respectable crowd of viewers with its well-received Hallmark Hall of Fame production "The Valley of Light," a World War II-era drama starring Chris Klein as a returning soldier falls in love with a widow played by Gretchen Mol, which brought in an average of 14.8 million viewers and 2.9 rating/8 share in adults 18-49 from 9-11 p.m., according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research.

With no more football on NBC's Sunday program grid, ABC's 8 p.m. repeat of "Extreme Makeover: Home Improvement" (15.1 million, 4.3/11) prevailed as the most-watched program of the night. "Makeover" also tied Fox's 9 p.m. edition of "Family Guy" (8.7 million, 4.3/10) as the highest adults 18-49 score of the night. NBC had a slow start to the night at 7 p.m. with the first hour of "Grease: You're the One that I Want" (6.5 million, 2.0/6), but picked up the pace at 8 p.m. with another hour of "Grease" (8.2 million, 2.8/7) and at 9 p.m. with "The Apprentice" (8.4 million, 3.5/8). The final hour of CBS' "Valley" elbowed past a fresh episode of NBC's "Crossing Jordan" (7.9 million, 2.7/7) to take the 10 p.m. hour.

All told, CBS prevailed for the night in total viewers (14.7 million); ABC led in adults 18-49 (3.3/8).
