ABC orders 'Women Are Crazy' pilot

Multicamera comedy revolves around a new couple

ABC has made an early jump on the pilot-pickup season with a second comedy order in three days.

The network Monday gave the green light to "Women Are Crazy, Men Are Stupid," a multicamera comedy from ABC Studios. The project is based on Howard Morris and Jenny Lee's book.

Morris and Lee also wrote the pilot script for "Women," about a new couple who both have survived failed marriages and are determined to get it right this time.

Elliot Webb, who left ICM in June after 35 years as an agent, is attached to executive produce.

On Friday, ABC greenlighted "Awkward Situations for Men," another comedy pilot based on a book.

The hybrid comedy from Warner Bros. TV, starring popular British humorist/on-air personality Danny Wallace, is inspired by Wallace's upcoming book. It follows him as he moves to the U.S. with his wife, only to discover that his everyday behavior clashes with American values.

The broadcast nets traditionally begin ordering their pilots in January, starting with dramas. But some networks have been looking to greenlight strong scripts early to get a head start on casting.
