ABC prevails with 'Wipeout,' 'Dance'

Cop drama 'Rookie Blues' continues to decline

ABC's "Wipeout" trounced the competition at 8 p.m. and Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" took 9 p.m., but ABC prevailed in Thursday night's broadcast primetime despite another decline for drama "Rookie Blue" in its second outing.

"Wipeout" (8.6 million, 2.7/10) not only prevailed in viewership and adults 18-49 at 8 p.m. but also was the most-watched and highest-rated show the demo for the entire night, according to Nielsen Media Research data. "Wipeout," in its second outing this week, was up 1/10 of a rating point from last Thursday's episode and easily beat mostly repeats on the other networks.

The 9 p.m. hour belonged to "So You Think You Can Dance" (5.7 million, 2.0/7) in adults 18-49, even though it was down 17% compared to last week's episode. That was still enough to lift "Dance" past the second episode of ABC's summer cop drama "Rookie Blue" (6.8 million, 1.8/6), even though "Rookie Blue" and a repeat "CSI" (6.9 million, 1.3/4) topped it in viewership. CBS won the night in viewership with all repeats.

ABC fared better with the ABC News special documentary "Boston Med" (5.4 million, 1.4/4). That was up 8% from the week before, though it wasn't enough to give ABC the win at 10 p.m in either category. That belonged to a repeat "The Mentalist" (8.2 million, 1.6/5). NBC had only one original, "100 Questions" (1.9 million, 0.7/3), which rose one-tenth of a ratings point in adults 18-49 from last week. The 9 p.m. repeat of "The Office" (2.8 million, 1.3/4) and the 9:30 p.m. repeat of "30 Rock" (2.4 million, 1.0/3) were up double-digits in the demo compared to last week.
