ABC wins first Sun. of sweep with 'Housewives'


ABC's lineup led by "Desperate Housewives" won the first Sunday of the May sweep, according to early Nielsen estimates.

The network's series, "America's Funniest Home Videos" (8.4 million viewers, 2.7 rating/10 share among adults 18-49), "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (10.3 million, 3.8/11), "Housewives" (16.9 million, 6.6/17) and "Brothers & Sisters" (11.5 million, 4.4/12) all dominated their time periods among adults 18-49, though "Extreme Makeover" posted its lowest rating with an original episode this season.

Fox's comedy lineup was highlighted by "Family Guy" (8.2 million, 4.1/11), which finished No.1 at 8 p.m. among adults 18-34.

"60 Minutes'"s highly publicized interview with former CIA director George Tenant did little to lift the newsmagazine's ratings. "60 Minutes" did 10.8 million, 1.9/7 in 18-49, followed by "The Amazing Race" (9.5 million, 3.0/9), the lowest-rated original episode of "Cold Case" (12.2 million, 2.7/7) and "Without a Trace" (13.7 million, 3.2/9).

For the night, ABC averaged 11.8 million viewers and a 4.4/13 among adults 18-49, followed b y Fox (6.4 million, 3.1/9) and CBS (11.5 million, 2.7/8).

NBC's broadcast of the feature "Along Came Polly (1.6/4) barely registered, and the network (6.4 million, 1.7/5) finished the night in fourth place among 18-49.
