ABC wins Mon. with 'Dancing,' 'Bachelor' finale

NEW YORK -- ABC won Monday primetime with "Dancing with the Stars" and the two-hour finale of "The Bachelor," while NBC's "Heroes" returned to its ratings form with its season finale.

"Dancing with the Stars" (19.7 million, 5.1 rating/15 share in adults 18-49) was the night's top show in viewership while "Heroes" (13.2 million, 6.0/15) won in adults 18-49, according to preliminary estimates released Tuesday by Nielsen Media Research.

"Dancing" trampled over everything at 8 p.m., including the first hour of the two-hour season finale of "24" (10.2 million, 3.8/10) and NBC's "Deal or No Deal" (9.6 million, 3.0/9).

"Heroes" got its best viewership and demo numbers since March 5.

The first hour of the two-hour "The Bachelor" finale won 9 p.m. in viewership and came in second against "Heroes" and edged out "24" in adults 18-49. "The Bachelor" (12.8 million, 4.8/12) spiked in its last half hour to 13.8 million viewers and a 5.6/15 in adults 18-49.

But the strong "Heroes" didn't help the season finale of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (9.2 million, 3.3/9), which was last in its time period against "The Bachelor" and a repeat of "CSI: Miami" (11.5 million, 3.5/9).

Nightly averages: ABC (15.1 million, 4.9/13); CBS (10.6 million, 3.3/9); NBC (10.7 million, 4.1/11); Fox (10.2 million, 3.8/10); and The CW (1.8 million, 0.7/2).
