Academy Granted $250,000 From Walmart for Emerging Talent Programs
The Academy also unveiled a new industry-wide summer intern and mentoring program.
Walmart has given the Academy $250,000 to continue their efforts of outreach and education.
The money will be put toward programs that are meant to encourage emerging talent, including the Student Academy Awards and the Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting.
The Academy also announced the launch of an industry-wide summer intern and mentoring program that targets young professionals from under-represented communities. The program will begin this summer.
For the first time, Walmart is a sponsor of this year's Oscars ceremony.
