The AMPAS Documentary Branch Executive Committee made the determination Monday. Psihoyos directed the film, about activists who infiltrate a Japanese cove to document the abuse of dolphins. Stevens is a credited producer on the film, as is Paula DuPre Pesman.

Academy rules for the documentary feature category stipulate a maximum of two nominees, and one must be the credited director. The Academy recently determined credited producers for the best picture feature nominees "The Hurt Locker" and "The Blind Side."
