Acquisitions Exec Scott Shooman Moves to CBS Films
The USC School of Cinema-Television graduate spent a decade at Sony Pictures.
CBS Films has hired Scott Shooman as EVP Acquisitions. The exec spent the previous decade at Sony Pictures, where he rose to VP Acquisitions and Productions.
"Acquisitions are an important part of our strategy, and the addition of Scott gives us new energy and strength,” said CBS FIlms president and CEO Amy Baer.
Shooman, who appeared on THR's coveted Next Gen list in 2010, will report to COO Wolfgang Hammer.
"Scott has a great eye for commercially viable, high quality films like Insidious," said Hammer. "He also possesses a deep passion and healthy aggressiveness for working with filmmakers."
While at Sony, Shooman also oversaw the acquisition of the movies Hanna, Machete and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
Shooman received his BA from USC School of Cinema-Television, and he is currently working on his MBA at the USC Marshall School of Business.
CBS Films most recently released The Mechanic and Beastly. Forthcoming acquisition releases include The Woman in Black and Gambit.
