Locarno in Los Angeles will take place at the Downtown Independent.

The screening series dedicated to sharing undistributed films, Acropolis Cinema, has found a new partner in Switzerland’s Locarno Festival.

The Locarno in Los Angeles will screen 10 Los Angeles premieres and host two panel discussions.

The series is supported by the Swiss Consulate General in Los Angeles, and will open with Hermia & Helena, the latest feature from Argentinian director Matias Pineiro. Closing the festival on April 23 will be the latest feature by Romania’s Radu Jude, Scarred Hearts.

“When we conceived of bringing Los Angeles audiences a curated selection of one of the most important festivals, we were thinking of the city and its adventurous film community,” said Locarno's co-artistic director Robert Koehler. “Now is time to bring to Los Angeles not just a taste but a generous serving of the riches of the Locarno Festival."

Locarno in Los Angeles will run April 21-23 at the Downtown Independent cinema.
