Adobe To Preview CS6 Production Premium Products At Las Vegas NAB Show

Next week at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas, Adobe will preview new versions of its Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Story Plus, Media Encoder, Encore and Photoshop (currently in beta); along with two new tools, SpeedGrade for color grading and Prelude for ingest, logging and transcoding.

These updates will be available as a bundle in Creative Suite 6 Production Premium, which will be released during the first half of the year (pricing has not been announced). They are also tied to Adobe Creative Cloud, also due before mid-year.

Adobe is billing After Effects and Premiere Pro as major updates. The new version of Premiere Pro—with a new user interface—effectively fires the next shot in the editing software war.

It was a year ago during NAB when Apple unveiled a new version of its popular editing system. Final Cut Pro X launched in June 2011 and while Apple claimed it was aimed at professionals, it was met with discontent in many such circles. Adobe and Avid Technology—Apple's key competitors in the editing space--both jumped at the opportunity by offering promotions aimed at switching Final Cut users to their editing software.

According to Adobe, its entire new content creation software bundle—aimed at broadcasters, filmmakers and other pros—feature “blazingly-fast” performance, tighter integration of the tools, and a more streamlined workflow.

The SpeedeGrade color grading system was the flagship product of Iridas, a postproduction technology maker that was acquired by Adobe in 2011.

It shouldn’t be hard to find the new software versions next week at NAB. According to Adobe, CS6 Production Premium will be presented at the Adobe stand and in more than 60 partner booths.
