Adrianne Palicki, Kristen Bell, Scarlett Johansson Fight Red Carpet Burn Out With Orthotics
It's not easy walking endless awards season carpets in the latest cutting edge heels, so actresses are turning to an affordable foot aid.
The Hollywood Awards Season is literally right around the corner: Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild, Independent Spirits and (ta-da) the Oscars in late February. Not to mention all the vote garnering soirees, press-the-flesh parties and celebratory gatherings.
But for actresses who walk awards and premiere arrival lines in new unbroken-in designer heels, the red carpet drill is torturous on their feet, legs and backs. At last week's BAFTA LA Britannia Awards, honoree Helena Bonham Carter gave up and walked the carpet barefoot carrying her heels in her hand.
But some smart actresses -- and their stylists -- are taking preventive steps to stop the symptoms of Awards Season burn-out: leg aches, back pain and posture problems.
Scarlett Johansson, Adrianne Palicki, Kristen Bell, Rachel Bilson and Miranda Lambert will be smiling, not wincing in their Manolos and Loubous, thanks to Dr. Joseph’s Lifestep orthotics specifically designed for high heels.
The inventor, Los Angeles based Dr. Robert J. Joseph, has offices in West Hollywood, Miracle Mile, Beverly Hills and Garden Grove. He originally designed the orthotics for his charity patients who could not afford the pricier versions. Now word has spread among the well-heeled Hollywood crowd as well.
"It's amazing how one piece of equipment can make such a huge difference in my body,” says Friday Night Lights star Palicki, who can next be seen in G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation and Red Dawn. "I hike, run, workout, do stunts and walk the red carpet in high heels. Dr. Joseph's Orthotics are a life-saver that I literally can't live without."
Jaime King is another orthotic lover. “These orthotics are my new find that everyone needs to know about. The corrective in-soles have been life-altering for everyone I know who wears them, including myself. They keep your posture aligned and when you can't resist slipping into those towering heels, slip these in and voila! Your pelvis and back will stay in place and you, my fashionable friend, will stay on the straight and narrow.
Palicki has been training with celebrity trainer Bobby Strom, a leading fitness expert. Strom has trained Jessica Biel, Elle MacPherson, Ryan Reynolds, Johansson and (gulp) Blake Lively. He swears by these new orthotics ever since his chronic back pain disappeared in a few days. Lifesteps also come in men's dress shoe sizes and for both sexes' sports shoes.
"The orthotics support the requirements of your feet, restoring the normal balance and alignment of your body by gently correcting foot abnormalities. Remember that your feet are connected to your knees, hips and lower back." The trainer, who recalls being impressed by the fact that his client Steven Spielberg was able to afford pricy $400-and-up orthotics for all of his shoes, now jokes that he can afford to do that too. Dr. Joseph’s Lifestep orthotics are only $49.99 a pair. So no need to switch them from shoe to shoe. Just buy a couple of pairs.
Even if you’re not red carpet bound, these sport and dress shoe orthotics will make great stocking stuffers ffor everyone this Xmas. Check out the website drjosephorthotics.com and there’s a even holiday promotional code -- Holiday15 --- for a 15% discount this week.
