Adult Swim Debuts First Episode of 'Rick and Morty' Season Three
The late-night network's website began running a livestream of the long-awaited season-three premiere on Saturday.
Adult Swim has debuted the first episode of the long-awaited third season of its animated sci-fi hit Rick and Morty.
In what certainly must have seemed like an April Fools' joke to fans of the show, who have been waiting for new episodes since the second-season finale in October 2015, Adult Swim's website began streaming the latest episode on a loop on Saturday evening. The episode also aired on television in place of Adult Swim's regularly scheduled programming.
The new episode picks up where the second season left off, with Rick, a supergenius and alternate-reality-hopping scientist, locked up in an intergalactic high-security prison. It is up to his grandson, the other half of the titular duo, and his family to rescue their incarcerated grandfather.
The stream was launched just hours after show co-creator and star Justin Roiland shared a season-three teaser on Twitter.
