AETN unveils new Asia team

SINGAPORE -- A&E Television Networks' Asia joint venture on Tuesday unveiled the new Singapore-based management team for its slate of 24-hour channels in Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Former ESPN Star Sports senior director of affiliate and multimedia sales Louis Boswell will head up the AETN All Asia Networks team as general manager beginning in July, with former Turner Entertainment Networks' head of acquisitions and development Michele Schofield in the top programming job.

Schofield moves from Hong Kong to Singapore in July to take up her new role as director of content, which encompasses programming, acquisitions and production.

AETN All Asia Networks is scheduled to launch two channels this year in Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan: the History Channel and Crime & Investigation Network. Other channels are being planned, but no details are available yet.

The History Channel is believed to be on target for a June launch, followed in the third quarter of this year by Crime & Investigation.

The venture's new director of marketing is Connie Lai, who previously worked with the Singapore Tourism Board. Other appointments include Susan Sy as affiliate marketing manager, Chee Yin Chong as senior producer, on-air production for Crime & Investigation Network and Lachlan Madsen as senior producer, on-air production for the History Channel.

AETN All Asia Networks is a joint venture with Malaysia's Astro All Asia Networks, which operates Malaysia's monopoly direct-broadcast satellite platform.
