AFM 2011: Universal Pictures International Picks Up Content's 'Hard Boiled Sweets'

It acquired the crime thriller for the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Benelux and Scandinavia.

Universal Pictures International Entertainment has acquired from Content Film Hard Boiled Sweets for the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Benelux and Scandinavia, the companies announced Friday at AFM.

Content had acquired worldwide rights to the film earlier this year.

Written and directed by David Hughes, the crime thriller is inspired by his short story A Girl With a Gun. It stars Scot Williams (The Crew), Paul Freeman (Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Long Good Friday, Hot Fuzz), Peter Wight (Another Year, Hot Fuzz), Ian Hart (Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Finding Neverland, Michael Collins), Elizabeth Berrington (In Bruges, Secrets and Lies), Laura Greenwood (The Brothers Grimm) and Philip Barantini (Band of Brothers, Ned Kelly).

The plot revolves around ex-con Johnny who is forced into doing a heist, but he doesn’t know that seven other criminals also have plans to pull it off.

Content Film is the film and library sales arm of Content Media Corp.
