Lost City is financing and producing the English-language debut of Norwegian director Eva Sorhaug, with Mister Smith Entertainment handling international sales.

Sharon Stone is set to return to her criminal Casino ways with Sunny, a dark comedic thriller in which the Oscar nominee will play the eponymous lead, a drug kingpin, mob mistress and devoted single mother.

Norwegian filmmaker Eva Sorhaug (90 Minutes) is attached to direct Sunny as her English-language debut. The plot, which sees Stone's character going through an adrenaline-fueled 24 hours as she tries to clean up and get out of town before the local mob boss discovers her dysfunctional family’s devastating secret, is based on Sorhaug's original idea. William Day Frank penned the script.

Lost City — the group behind Drake Doremus’ latest feature Newness starring Nicholas Hoult and Laia Costa — will finance and produce Sunny. David Garrett's Mister Smith Entertainment is handling international sales and will launch the project next week at the American Film Market. CAA and Endeavor Content will oversee U.S. sales on the film.

“Sharon Stone is the perfect actress to bring Sunny and all of her complexities to the screen,” said Sorhaug. “Her effortless ability to play strong, sexy women will take this fierce female character to the next level.”

Best known for her iconic role in Paul Verhoeven's 1992 noir thriller Basic Instinct, Stone received critical kudos for her turn as a gangster moll in Martin Scorsese's Casino (2006). The performance earned her a Golden Globe award for best actress as well as an Oscar nomination. The actress will next be seen alongside James Franco, Zoey Deutch and Alison Brie in Franco's The Disaster Artist, and in Mosaic, a six-part limited series from Steven Soderbergh for HBO.

Stone is repped by CAA and Mosaic's Paul Nelson. Sorhaug, who has recently worked on the USA series Damnation and Falling Water, is with WME and Industry Entertainment. Frank is repped by WME and Management 360.
