Bollywood Star Akshay Kumar Lines Up Three-Film Deal With India's Fox Star Studios
The partnership will kick off with space film 'Mission Mangal' and all three titles will be distributed worldwide by Fox Star Studios.
India's Fox Star Studios is beefing up its Bollywood slate via a three-picture partnership with leading man Akshay Kumar.
FSS and Kumar's production company Cape of Good Films will kick off the alliance with space film Mission Mangal, which is a collaboration with filmmaker R. Balki, who directed Sony Pictures India's female hygiene drama PadMan that also starred Kumar.
Starring Kumar, Mission Mangal begins filming this month and will be directed by Jagan Shakti.
As with other FSS releases, the studio plans to release the three films worldwide. Financial terms of the partnership were not given.
The 51-year-old Kumar is one of India’s most bankable stars and he has delivered a string of hits recently, including socially conscious titles such as last year's Toilet: A Love Story, which revolved around the importance of sanitation. Last year, Kumar starred in FSS' comedy Jolly LLB 2.
FSS' upcoming slate includes Kizie Aur Manny, a Bollywood remake of The Fault in Our Stars, and co-productions with Dharma Productions, which include next summer's Student of the Year 2 and the epic Brahmastra.
