Alan Gregg joins Teletoon

Veteran animation exec will oversee original production teams

TORONTO -- Canadian cartoon cable channel Teletoon has hired veteran animation executive Alan Gregg as director of original development, replacing Michael Goldsmith who shifted over to become director of original programming at the Canadian pay TV services Family Channel and Playhouse Disney Canada.

Gregg was most recently a story editor at Guru Studio, and before that opened a Toronto office for Irish animation studio Brown Bag Films.

Gregg will oversee Teletoon's original production teams in Toronto and Montreal, reporting to Carole Bonneau, vp of programming at the cartoon channel.

Canadian broadcaster Astral Media owns and operates Family Channel and Playhouse Disney Canada, while running Teletoon as a 50-50 venture with rival broadcaster Corus Entertainment.
