Alberto Marini Setting Up His Own Spanish Production Shingle

Rebelion Terrestreto to mostly focus on genre and thriller titles

MADRID -- After 11 years at Barcelona-based mini-studio Filmax, Alberto Marini announced Wednesday he'll step down from his post as head of international productions in November to set up his own production shingle, Rebelion Terrestre.

"My decision is based on instinct -- albeit one perhaps kamikaze in nature -- and the intention to steer my career towards the development and production of content that is close to my personal taste, as well as writing," Marini said.

Marini said he is presently working on a slate to announce in spring 2011, but that it would mostly focus on genre and thriller titles.

Marini, who wrote the screenplay for Jaume Balaguero's upcoming roommate horror Sleep Tight, said he will maintain a close personal and professional relationship with Filmax Group.

He will continue to executive produce Sleep Tight for Filmax, as well as handle the executive production for the group's animated Snowflake: The White Gorilla and Paco Plaza's [REC] Genesis, the third installment of the successful [REC] franchise, set to shoot in 2011.

Random House Mondadori will publish Marini's Sleep Tight as a novel next year under the same title.

Adria Mones will take over for Marini in the Executive Production Department.
