Alec Baldwin Returns as Trump on 'Weekend Update Summer Edition'

"The media has treated me so unfairly by using my exact remarks."

NBC's Saturday Night Live: Weekend Update Summer Edition returned for its third, and final, episode on Thursday to dissect President Donald Trump’s rally in Phoenix earlier this week.

Alec Baldwin reprised his role as Trump, walking up to the podium in eclipse glasses. “Wow, everyone’s so white here,” he said as he took his glasses off.

“The media has treated me so unfairly by using my exact remarks,” Baldwin’s Trump said of his infamous “both sides” Charlottesville comments.

Behind him, throughout the press conference, Kenan Thompson was there “because that’s what your ad asked for.”

“We all love the wall, don’t we?” Baldwin asked the crowd, referencing Trump’s proposed wall along the Mexican border.

“Yeah, it’s my favorite album,” Thompson said.

Also addressed was Trump’s firing of White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, who, as he had all last season on SNL, was portrayed as the Grim Reaper.

“Steve, we love you,” Baldwin's Trump said.

“I’m going to crush you,” the Bannon specter replied.

Baldwin follows in a long list of Weekend Update Summer Edition guest surprises and returning stars. Last week saw Tina Fey stuffing her face with a sheetcake during a Trump-Charlottesville inspired rant after Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon joined Michael Che and Colin Jost at the desk, and the week prior welcomed Bill Hader back as Anthony Scaramucci.

On Thursday, SNL announced Ryan Gosling will be hosting the season 43 premiere on Sept. 30 with musical guest Jay-Z.

It is unclear in what capacity Baldwin, along with Melissa McCarthy who played Sean Spicer, will be returning to the roster.

Vanessa Bayer, Bobby Moynihan and Sasheer Zamata all departed the long-running series at the end of last season and no new castmembers have yet been announced.
