TORONTO – Alex Ozerov, Sasha Gordon and Deanna Dezmari are top-lining the Canadian indie Natasha, director David Bezmozgis' screen adaptation of a short story from his first published book.

Ozerov plays Mark Berman, a young slacker in the tragic love story who falls in love with Natasha (Gordon), a young woman forced to come to Toronto from Russia when her mother agrees to an arranged marriage to Mark’s uncle.

Dezmari performs the role of Mark's mother, with Bill Marks, Deborah Marks and Julia Rosenberg sharing the producer credits. Daniel Ostroff is executive producing.

Bezmozgis developed his debut feature, Victoria Day, as a screenwriting fellow at the Sundance Labs and saw the film premiere in competition at the Sundance Film Festival in 2009.

Mongrel Media will release Natasha in Canada.
