PARIS - As the Gallic entertainment industry recovered from an action-packed weekend for French cinema on both sides of the Atlantic, Paris Fashion Week kicked off in the capital of glam on Tuesday night with the launch party for Cointreau Prive.

Fashion designer Alexis Mabille, whose creations are popular among stars including Dita Von Teese, Keira Knightley and Sophia Coppola, is the brand’s new artistic director. Mabille was on hand on Tuesday night with his celebrity friends to launch an ephemeral cocktail bar in an underground space in Paris’ chic Opera district. F

ashion and film collided as Cesar award nominee, Poliss actor Joey Starr joined directors Michel Gondry and Christophe Barratier, actresses Julie Ferrier and Audrey Dana, singers Julian Perretta, the Plastiscines and other French VIPs for a night of cocktails dressed in bowties. The new club was inspired by 1920s Parisian salons and guests felt as if the venue was part of a scene from Woody Allen’s Oscar-nominated Midnight in Paris.

The invite-only temporary hot spot will stay open through the end of April and will play host to several celebrity-heavy soirées throughout Fashion Week including the after-party for Mabille’s fashion show on Sunday, called the “Cointreau Bow Tie Club.”
