The U.K. players follow Lionsgate and Starz in licensing series to Vimeo's global TV store.

John Malone is doing more business with former protégé Barry Diller's streaming platform Vimeo as it challenges Netflix.

After Lionsgate and Starz, pending merger partners and part of the king of cable's investment universe, became the first Hollywood studios to join Vimeo and its global television store, the IAC-owned streaming service has unveiled content licensing deals with All3Media International and BBC Worldwide.

All3Media, the TV, film and digital production and distribution company owned by Discovery Communications and Malone's Liberty Global, will initially make all seven seasons of Skins and four seasons of Fresh Meat available on Vimeo's global television store.

The first slate of programming from BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the U.K. public broadcaster, for Vimeo includes the music doc They Will Have to Kill Us First, available worldwide except in the U.S. and France; the digital-first travel series for BBC3, Mission Selfie; and Isms & Schisms.

Beyond the launch titles, Vimeo said All3Media and BBC Worldwide will bring bigger parts of their catalogs to the global TV store. Discovery Communications and Liberty Global last year acquired All3Media for $930 million.

Malone controls Liberty Global and is a major shareholder in Discovery. He's also a major shareholder in Lionsgate, which in September unveiled a licensing deal to make its TV slate, including series like Orange Is the New Black, Mad Men and The Royals, available to Vimeo subscribers in the U.S. and 150 other countries.

That was quickly followed by Starz and its own licensing deal, which sees TV shows like Ash vs Evil Dead, Black Sails and The Girlfriend Experience offered up to Vimeo subscribers. Vimeo has been talking to Hollywood studios and other international production players about using its global TV store as one more platform to get premium TV content to online, next-generation customers worldwide.

The service officially launched last month at MIPCOM. "Vimeo is thrilled to collaborate with All3Media International and BBC Worldwide,” Vimeo’s head of global content partnerships and distribution, Sam Toles, said in a statement. “The partners each bring a unique array of content from the U.K.’s finest creators that we’re excited to have on our platform for viewers around the world."

Stuart Wettenhall, head of digital partnerships at BBC Worldwide, in his own statement welcomed the Vimeo partnership. "We think our launch titles serve the adventurous spirit of Vimeo’s dedicated audience, continuing the BBC’s tradition of premium storytelling. We look forward to growing our partnership with Vimeo over the coming year," he said.
