Alliance Films Renews Canadian Deal With Miramax

Alliance Films to release all Miramax titles north of the border, including new theatrical films.

TORONTO -- Alliance Films and Miramax have renewed their Canadian deal to now include all media, including theatrical titles.

Alliance Films, Canada’s largest indie distributor, will release all of Miramax’s new films here, starting with John Madden’s The Debt on Aug. 31 and the Guillermo Del Toro-produced Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, starring Katie Holmes and Guy Pearce, to be released Aug. 12.

The new output deal will continue to include the Miramax library.

Miramax released its new pictures in Canada through rival distributor Maple Pictures starting in 2008 after Alliance Films earlier failed to renew a long-time output deal with the U.S. studio.
