Amazon buying

NEW YORK --, Inc. said Thursday it would acquire digital spoken word content provider Audible Inc. for $300 million.

Audible, which sells content through Apple's iTunes, has over 80,000 programs, including audiobooks from Stephen King and Thomas Friedman and audio content from the New York Times, the New Yorker and Charlie Rose.

This is the latest move in the digital space for Amazon, which recently introduced Kindle, a portable reader that makes content from books, newspapers and magazines available.

The Audible deal is expected to close in this year's 2nd quarter.
