The deal with Sony Pictures Television also covers Austria.

Amazon Prime Video will be the home of upcoming AMC show Preacher in the U.K., Austria, Germany and Japan in a deal with Sony Pictures Television (SPT).

Amazon Prime members will be able to enjoy the comedic drama from May 23, a day after its U.S. launch, with subsequent episodes launching on Mondays starting on June 6, only a day after they premiere in the U.S.

Produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and showrunner Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad) and based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's comic book, the show follows a West Texas preacher named Jesse Custer, played by Dominic Cooper (Warcraft, Agent Carter), who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that causes him to develop a highly unusual power.

Preacher is one of the most ambitious and highly-anticipated new series of the year, and exactly the kind of show we want to bring our Prime members around the world,” said Brad Beale, vp worldwide television acquisition for Amazon. “Sitting alongside shows like The Man in the High Castle, Transparent, Mr Robot, Fear The Walking Dead and the upcoming Clarkson, Hammond and May show, The Grand Tour, Preacher is another great addition to our lineup and we think our customers are going to love it.”

The show has also sold to Viaplay across the Nordics, OSN across the Middle East and D-Smart in Turkey.

Said Paul Littmann, executive vp international distribution at SPT: “We’ve had huge interest in this bold and intriguing comic book adaptation from international buyers, and Preacher will undoubtedly be one of the most talked about shows of the year. We’re certain it will be a stand-out show for Amazon.”

Prime Video offers members unlimited access to thousands of popular movies and TV shows, and is the only place to watch Amazon Original Series like The Man in the High Castle, Mozart in the Jungle, Transparent, Red Oaks, Michael Connelly’s cop drama Bosch, the forthcoming Clarkson, Hammond & May show, The Grand Tour and, in the U.K., a host of exclusive shows like Mr. Robot, Outlander, Lucifer and Vikings. Prime members can choose to stream or download from Prime Video, to make keeping up with their new favorite shows effortless, whether on the move or at home.
