The drama with German star Matthias Schweighofer will be Amazon's first foreign-language original to go out globally via the streaming service.

Amazon will launch You Are Wanted, its first German-language original series, worldwide, with a planned drop in 200 countries and territories on the Amazon Prime streaming service.

The German drama series will roll out globally on March 17. In addition to the original version, You Are Wanted will be available in subtitled and dubbed versions in English, French, Italian and Spanish and with Portuguese, Hindi or Japanese subtitles.

The series stars Matthias Schweighofer, one of Germany's biggest movie stars, as a young hotel manager whose life is torn apart after his personal data is hacked and he ends up accused by the police of being a member of a terrorist organization. Alexandra Maria Lara (Downfall) and Karoline Herfurth (Perfume: Story of a Murderer) also star.

Amazon has done global rollouts of its originals before — most prominently with its car reality show The Grand Tour — but You Are Wanted will be the first time it takes a foreign-language original worldwide.

“When we created You Are Wanted, we aimed at making a German series that would appeal to both a German and international audience,” said Schweighofer in a statement. “Together with Amazon, we are making that happen for the first time in German TV history. I’m really looking forward to showing this thrilling story to fans around the world.”
