AMC to Launch in U.K. in September

Breaking Bad - P 2014

The channel will be available exclusively to BT TV customers and will feature the U.K. premiere of 'Fear the Walking Dead.'

With its hit shows Breaking Bad and Mad Men already major draws over the Atlantic thanks to Netflix and Sky, AMC is finally set to get a full launch in the U.K.

Following a tie-up between AMC Networks International and local communications giant BT Group, AMC will launch this September exclusively for BT TV customers.

The multi-year agreement will mark AMC’s British debut and will launch with the exclusive U.K. television premiere of Walking Dead companion series Fear the Walking Dead.

“AMC has become synonymous with bold, dramatic original programming of the highest quality. We’re excited to partner with BT to launch AMC for the first time in the U.K.,” said Ed Carroll, AMC Networks COO. “This agreement highlights the strong demand for our channels and will enable us to continue developing a far-reaching platform for AMC’s original programming.”

Having launched outside North America for the first time in 2014, AMC is now seen on subscription television platforms in more than 125 countries and territories throughout Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
