The exhibitor is getting bigger with 11 more giant screens

Expect more super-sized Hollywood blockbusters at AMC Entertainment theaters in New York, Chicago and other big cities as the theater chain announced it was adding 11 Imax movie screens.

Expanding its existing revenue-sharing theater deal with Canadian-based Imax, AMC said it will install the new screens for premium ticket-priced Hollywood movies in additional U.S. markets like Newark and Phoenix in 2015.

The latest pact between AMC and Imax takes the U.S. circuit’s commitment to 159 giant screen theaters.

AMC and other North American exhibitors look to Imax and its 3D screens to minimize the impact of Hollywood box office duds.
