America Ferrera tops Imagen noms with 3

Awards honor positive portrayals of Latinos in TV, film

"Ugly Betty" alumna America Ferrera emerged a triple nominee as nominations for the 25th annual Imagen Awards were announced Thursday.

Produced by the Imagen Foundation to honor positive portrayals of Latinos, the awards, which will be handed out Aug. 15 at the Century Plaza Hotel, nominated Ferrera as best TV actress for "Betty" and gave her two more noms as best feature film actress for the comedy "Our Family Wedding" and the drama "The Dry Land."

The nominees for best TV show or movie-of-the-week are Lifetime MOW "One Hot Summer," ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and "Lost" and CBS' "Cold Case."

In the feature film category, the nominated movies are "The Dry Land" and "Casi Divas," both from Maya Entertainment; 5 Stick Films' "La Mission"; and Fox Searchlight's "Our Family Wedding."

Winners will be selected by an independent panel of entertainment industry executives and Latino community leaders.
