Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are starring in Summit's movie musical.

American Horror Story actor Finn Wittrock is in talks to join Whiplash director Damien Chazelle's next film, La La Land.

Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are starring in the Summit film, which is a modern take on the Hollywood musical. It follows a jazz pianist (Gosling) who falls for an aspiring actress (Stone) in Los Angeles. But as success mounts, they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fabric of their love affair.

As The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reported, J.K. Simmons will reunite with Chazelle, who directed his Oscar-winning performance in Whiplash, for La La Land. He'll play a character called "Boss." Jessica Rothe, Sonoya Mizuno and Callie Hernandez also recently joined the project to play Stone's character's three roommates. Wittrock will play the role of Greg.

Fred Berger, Gary Gilbert, Jordan Horowitz and Marc Platt are producing the film. Summit will release the film on July 15, 2016.

After working with Ryan Murphy on the hit HBO movie The Normal Heart, Wittrock, a Juilliard grad, starred in Murphy's FX anthology series American Horror Story: Freak Show, playing the creepy Dandy Mott. He'll also star in the next installation, American Horror Story: Hotel, premiering in the fall.

On the film side, his recent credits include Unbroken and Noah, and he'll next be seen in sports film My All American, hitting theaters on Oct. 9. He'll also appear in Adam McKay's star-studded The Big Short with Gosling, Brad Pitt and Christian Bale. He's repped by ICM Partners and Weissenbach Management.
