AMPAS, ABC Introduce Behind-the-Scenes Academy Awards Web Streaming Service

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and ABC will stream footage from the Oscar red carpet, inside the Kodak Theater and the Governors Ball through a new "All Access" feature available through the website.

AMPAS and ABC are charging $4.99 for the inaugural program, which will pull back the curtain on the goings-on of Oscar night by broadcasting previously unseen sights such as celebrities mingling in the Kodak Theater lobby, the pre-ceremony champagne reception, the action during commercial breaks, and a look at the presenters' hair and makeup area.

Additionally, an "Oscar Backstage Pass" app that accesses the streams for iPads, iPhones and iPod Touches went on sale Friday.
