Hairstylist Alex Polillo shares his how-to for the comedienne's "not too fussy and super classy" look.

For hair whiz Alex Polillo, the decision to leave presenter Amy Poehler’s hair loose at the SAG Awards on Saturday night was a no-brainer.

"My inspiration for this one was just Amy," says Polillo, who also wanted to show off Poehler's latest shade of copper by colorist Tracey Cunningham. “[Amy] has been looking super chic lately, and this just feel right for her tonight. Not too fussy and super classy.”

To get the look that’s equal parts classic and carefree, Polillo started with wet hair and applied John Frieda Beach Blonde Sea Waves Salt Spray ($9.99) for volume ("It smells so good," he says). Following a smooth blow-dry, he set Poehler's parting and let it cool, then flat-ironed the ends. Next, Polillo layered Batiste Dry Shampoo ($5.99) and Leonor Greyl Baume Bois de Rose sculpting balm ($49) for "a nice undone texture."

And to complete the look, Polillo misted her hair with Sachajuan Hairspray Light and Flexible ($31) at the roots to hold flyaways, leaving Poehler picture-perfect as she took to the podium with Tina Fey to give Carol Burnett the Screen Actors Guild's Life Achievement Award.
