Reality veteran inks with CBS

Veteran reality producer Chris Carlson has been named vp alternative programming at CBS Entertainment.

Carlson will develop new alternative programs — including reality, game shows and other nonscripted programming — while helping to oversee CBS' current slate of reality series. He reports to Ghen Maynard, executive vp alternative programming and entertainment content for new media at CBS Paramount Network Television Entertainment Group.

Since 2004, Carlson has freelanced as a supervising producer/co-executive producer on reality programs including TBS' "Minding the Store," Bravo pair "Blow Out" and "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List," Lifetime's "Off the Leash" and the CW's "Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants" and its upcoming "Farmer Wants a Wife."

From 2002-04, Carlson was a supervising producer at Next Entertainment, working on the reality feature film "Drunken Jackasses: The Quest" and the WB Network series "Superstar USA" and "Big Man on Campus."

Carlson started his career in the music development division of MTV Networks, where he helped develop and oversee "Making the Video," "Making the Tour," "Senseless Acts of Video," "DisMissed," "Punk'd," "The Osbournes" and "Kidnapped," among other series and specials.

Carlson's CBS deal was brokered by his reps at Rebel Entertainment Partners.
