'An Education' Director Lone Scherfig Joins European Film College

The Danish film school has produced talents such as "A Royal Affair" director Nikolaj Arcel and "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" writer Rasmus Heisterberg.

Danish director Lone Scherfig (An Education, Italian for Beginners) has joined the board of the European Film College in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her appointment was part of a wider shuffle at the College which also saw Copenhagen Film Festivals CEO Lars Hermann take over as chairmen, replacing Nimbus Films co-founder Bo Ehrhardt.

Henning Camre of the film policy group European Think Tank and Grith Okholm Skaarup, head of communications at Danish law firm Poul Schmidt, the legal advisor to the Danish government, have also joined the College's board.

Copenhagen's  European Film College features, since 1993, an intense 8 1/2 month foundation course for would-be filmmakers. Its graduates include Nikolaj Arcel, director of the Oscar-nominated A Royal Affair, screenwriter Rasmus Heisterberg (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and actor Pilou Asbaek, star of the acclaimed Danish political drama Borgen
