An unfamiliar position for new Staind disc: looking up

Staind's streak of consecutive No. 1 debuts ends at three this week as the ubiquitous Disney trio Jonas Brothers hogs the top spot on the Billboard 200, followed by the still-surging Kid Rock.

"The Illusion of Progress" sold 92,000 units for the week ending Aug. 24. That's an apt title because the Massachusetts band has seen diminishing returns since "Break the Cycle" slammed into the chart with 716,000 units in 2001. "14 Shades of Grey" opened with 221,000 units in 2003, followed by "Chapter V" with 185,000 in 2005.

Ice Cube scores his seventh top 10 solo hit with "Raw Footage," while alt-hip-hop duo Shwayze's self-titled debut bows 10th, fueled by a week as the top iTunes album.

Meanwhile, Coldplay's "Viva la Vida" falls out of the top 10 for the first time since mid-June. (partialdiff)
