Anchor Bay, Sony ink distribution deal

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has cut an international distribution rights deal with Anchor Bay Entertainment to sell the indie's home entertainment library in new markets around the world.

The three-year deal includes worldwide distribution rights -- outside of the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom -- to various Anchor Bay catalog titles, including Hellboy Animated films; Manga Entertainment titles including "Ghost In the Shell" and the Streetfighter series; all 26 titles in the Masters of Horror series; six episodes in the Masters of Science Fiction series; and the pre-school hit "Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!"

Bill Clark, president of Anchor Bay, a unit of Liberty Media Corp.'s Starz Media, said the deal with Sony Pictures will give his company "unbeatable access to international territories where we haven't previously had a strong presence."

Anchor Bay will work closely with Sony Pictures on all facets of marketing and sales.
