Ancier talker in the works at Telepictures

Former WB Network chairman Garth Ancier is working on a talk show pilot for Telepictures Prods., sources said.

Ancier and Gail Steinberg, who served as executive producers on the long-running syndicated talk show "Ricki Lake," are executive producing a pilot for a potential daytime talk show, according to sources. The pilot is hosted by Christy Haubegger, founder and former CEO and publisher of Latina magazine.

Ancier is expected to sign a multiyear deal with Warner Bros. Television Group to develop network, cable and first-run syndicated shows for Telepictures and Warner Horizon, both of which are divisions of WBTG, that would be developed through Ancier's production banner, the Garth Ancier Co. It's believed that the talk show project would fall under that deal.

Telepictures declined comment. Calls to Ancier's office were not returned. CAA, which reps Ancier and Steinberg, also declined comment.

Ancier, who also created "Ricki Lake," was WB chairman in its final three years after having served as head of programming at the network from 1994-99. He also was the inaugural entertainment president at Fox, head of the Walt Disney Co.'s TV production unit, entertainment president at NBC and executive vp programming at Turner Broadcasting System Inc.

Steinberg also has held producing positions on "Donahue," "CBS This Morning," "Geraldo" and "The Montel Williams Show."

Haubegger, who founded Latina magazine in 1996 at age 28 and was named one of Newsweek's "Women of the New Century" in 2001, was hired at CAA in 2003 to provide clients with expert insight on Hispanic-related initiatives. She also was executive producer on the feature film "Spanglish" and associate producer on "Chasing Papi."
