The entrepreneur wrote that he and his daughter decorated a Christmas tree in honor of his late wife's birthday.

Andy Spade on Monday paid tribute to his late wife, Kate Spade.

The entrepreneur shared a message about his late fashion designer wife on his Instagram page. “She was born Christmas Eve, 1962,” he wrote, accompanied by a photo of an outdoor Christmas tree covered in lights and topped with a star. "She loved the Midwest, the desert, and the city."

Andy explained in the post that he and daughter Bea were staying with friends when they came across the tree in the photo.

"This tree was standing alone beside the house," he wrote. "We ordered those multicolored, old fashioned lights from Amazon or Target and another dear personal friend gave me a really Iong extension cord and Bea and I cut a star out of the cardboard box the lights came on and wrapped it in Reynolds wrap (TM) like we do every Christmas."

Kate died by suicide in June. She was 55.

Following his wife's death, Andy said in a statement, "Kate was the most beautiful woman in the world. She was the kindest person I've ever known and my best friend for 35 years. My daughter and I are devastated by her loss, and can't even begin to fathom life without her. We are deeply heartbroken and miss her already."
