Oscar-winning director Ang Lee will be honored at the Provincetown International Film Festival with the 2016 Filmmaker on the Edge award.

Andrew Peterson, the fest's director of programming, said Tuesday in a statement: “Given Ang Lee’s beautiful artistry, remarkable versatility and towering command of craft, it’s long been a dream of ours to honor him with our Filmmaker on the Edge Award — and 2016 is the year that dream comes true!"

Lee will accept the award while in conversation with fellow-director John Waters at the Provincetown town hall.

Previous recipients include Quentin Tarantino, Todd Haynes and Gus van Sant.
