'Angel at Sea' wins at Karlovy Vary

Feature debut of Belgium director Frederic Dumont

PRAGUE -- The Belgium-Canadian movie "Angel at Sea" has won the top prize at the 44th International Film Festival in Czech spa town of Karlovy Vary.

The film is a feature debut of Belgium director Frederic Dumont. It focuses on a 12-year-old boy who lives with his parents and older brother by the sea in Morocco. One day his father tells him a secret that changes his life.

The film was chosen out of 14 contenders for the Crystal Globe by the festival's seven-member jury led by French producer Claudie Ossard.

Saturday's award also includes a $30,000 cash prize.
