The online app from Finnish company Rovio, that has been downloaded more than 500 million times worldwide, is now a line of plush animals, balls, pillows, key chains and more that are expected to be hot sellers this holiday.

The Rovio Entertainment cartoon based on the hit game landed on the Canadian cable channel's Saturday morning schedule.

TORONTO – Canadian cartoon cable channel Teletoon has acquired Angry Birds Toons from Finnish producer Rovio Entertainment for its Saturday morning schedule.

Teletoon acquired all 52 initial animated episodes as part of the Canadian broadcast rights to the cartoon based on the hit game.

The broadcaster, which debuted Angry Birds Toons on March 16, will also air the cartoon series about the adventures of the Angry Birds and their arch-enemies, the Bad Piggies, on its website.

Angry Birds Toons will also run on Comcast's U.S. video platforms, including Xfinity on Demand, the Xfinity TV Player app and online at Xfinity.com/tv.

The Canadian cartoon deal follows Corus Entertainment reaching an agreement earlier this month to acquire the remaining stake in Teletoon that it does not already own.
