Anna Camp, Thomas Sadoski Set for 'Belleville' at Pasadena Playhouse
The duo will turn in 24 performances in Amy Herzog's play from April 18 through May 13, with press opening set for April 22.
Anna Camp and Thomas Sadoski are heading to Pasadena.
The pair will star in Belleville, the 2011 play from Pulitzer Prize finalist and Obie Award winner Amy Herzog, which is being staged at the Pasadena Playhouse from April 18 to May 13.
Camp, a Drama Desk nominee, and Sadoski, a Tony Award nominee, will play a seemingly perfect couple, Abby and Zack, living a seemingly perfect expatriate life in Paris. But when Abby finds Zack at home one afternoon when he’s supposed to be at work, their marriage begins to show cracks as an ordinary night unravels into a modern-day thriller. The play is described as "a Hitchcock-style drama, and a captivating evening of intrigue and suspense," per today's announcement.
Belleville will be directed by Jenna Worsham, who says the play reveals Herzog's skill with constructing subtle devastations. "It begins like a Monet painting — but by the end we're in the world of Francis Bacon. The audience is asking, 'How did I get here? What do I do now?' And it’s the seemingly small secrets between intimate partners that have accumulated and brought us to this point. I love this about the play — that it makes us question if we can ever really know someone, given the rich and complex interior that is the human mind."
Adds Danny Feldman, artistic director of Pasadena Playhouse: “Belleville continues a rich history of the Playhouse by connecting great actors and great plays. We are thrilled to be bringing one of the brightest new voices in theater to L.A. for the first time, being performed by two actors at the top of their game."
Camp's screen credits include Good Girls Revolt, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, True Blood and the Pitch Perfect movies. On Broadway, she's been seen in Equus, The Country Girl and Time and the Conways.
Sadoski currently stars on the hit CBS comedy series Life in Pieces. He has appeared on Broadway in Reckless, Reasons To Be Pretty, The House of Blue Leaves and Other Desert Cities; onscreen in The Last Word and the John Wick films; and on television as a series regular on The Newsroom.
Belleville was first commissioned and produced by Yale Repertory Theater in 2011. More information can be found here.
