The "Breaking Bad" star will headline opposite Tony Award nominee Billy Magnussen in the Second Stage production of Laura Eason's drama, directed by David Schwimmer.

NEW YORK -- Bryan Cranston opened on Broadway to rave reviews last month, playing Lyndon B. Johnson in All the Way. Now his former Breaking Bad co-star, Anna Gunn, is also heading to the New York stage this summer, in an off-Broadway production of Laura Eason's Sex With Strangers.

The Emmy winner will appear opposite Billy Magnussen, a Tony nominee last season for his role in Christopher Durang's Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. The two-hander will be produced by Second Stage Theatre and directed by David Schwimmer. It begins previews July 8, with official opening set for July 30, in a limited engagement scheduled through Aug. 24.

Eason's drama asks how far people will go when attraction, sex, ambition and digital-age communication are in the mix. Magnussen plays popular young sex blogger and memoirist Ethan, who tracks down his idol, the obscure, upscale novelist Olivia, played by Gunn. Each of them has something the other wants.

Schwimmer has an extensive theater background as both actor and director, notably in Chicago, where he is co-founder of the Lookingglass Theatre Company. He appeared onstage in New York in the 2006 Broadway revival of The Caine Mutiny Court Martial, and off Broadway in Detroit in 2012, as well as directing the 2008 Naked Angels production of Stephen Belber's Fault Lines.

Gunn is shooting Fox's murder-investigation series Gracepoint, the U.S. adaptation of critically acclaimed British smash Broadchurch. Sex With Strangers will mark Gunn's first time on a New York stage since making her Broadway debut in 1996 in Jean Anouilh's The Rehearsal.

Magnussen will next be seen in Rob Marshall's starry Disney screen version of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's revisionist fairy-tale musical Into the Woods.
