Anna Kendrick's Altuzarra Makeup Channeled New York Minimalism, Not Hollywood

It seems the actress is keeping on top of the latest trends this NYFW.

She may be 100 percent a part of Hollywood and the entertainment industry, but when Anna Kendrick attends New York Fashion Week she clearly knows how to take a cue. Already it’s become clear this season that fashion is taking a liking to the no-makeup or barely-there approach.

Like Gucci Westman said at Self-Portrait, the overly done-up, caked-on makeup thing feels a bit irrelevant. And Kendrick has been paying attention, because her look at the Altuzarra show on Saturday night was fresh, chic and pretty anti-Hollywood.

The makeup artist responsible was Sara Glick, who tells Pret-a-Reporter, "I wanted the look to stay very current and feel New York. I shied away from a typical Hollywood look — i.e. heavy lashes and contouring — and just wanted to create a natural face." Her inspiration was Kendrick's cobalt blue dress, which she contrasted with a wash of green-tinged, stone-colored eyeshadow using Laura Mercier Eye Chromes Palette in Aluminum Grey ($48) and Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Khaki ($28) in the crease.

Unlike many of the models this season, the actress did wear mascara — although it managed to not be the focus of her look. Glick kept Kendrick on-trend with the focus on skincare, too, by prepping her skin with RéVive Masque de Yeux Revitalizing Eye Mask ($200), Laura Mercier Perfect Water Moisture Mist ($38) and Laura Mercier Infusion de Rose Nourishing Oil ($72) before applying foundation. The final touch: Laura Mercier Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalm in Amaretto Swirl ($25). Voila — subtle and cool.
