Rising Canadian star Deragh Campbell has been cast in two indie dramas ahead of the Toronto Film Festival.

Campbell will appear in Kazi Radwanski's latest character drama Matt and Mara, alongside Matt Johnson. She and Johnson starred in Radwanski's Anne at 13,000 Ft., with Campbell playing a troubled young woman trying to navigate daily life in an indie that debuted TIFF in 2019.

Campbell in Radwanski's latest movie project will play the role of Mara, a young professor struggling through marriage, only to meet Matt (Johnson), a man from her past who wanders onto her university campus.

Medium Density Fibreboard Films is producing Matt and Mara, which is to be shot in Ontario, with Dan Montgomery in the role as producer. Campbell in Anne at 13,000 Ft. played a single daycare worker in Toronto on a skydiving drip for her best friend Sara’s bachelorette party, and who later meets Matt (Matt Johnson) at the wedding.

Campbell is also set for the supporting role of Nancy in So Much Tenderness, the next movie for director and writer Lina Rodriguez. Brad Deane is producing for Rayon Verde.

Rodriguez' indie drama follows Aurora, a Colombian environmental lawyer who is forced to flee her native country when her husband is murdered. Six years later, she has settled in Toronto and lives a seemingly normal life with Lucía, her rebellious teenage daughter, until someone from her past resurfaces and threatens everything she has built for herself and her family.

Casting for Spanish-speaking actors is taking place in Toronto and Bogota.
