Annette Bening to Receive Santa Barbara Film Fest Honor

"The Kids Are All Right," "Mother and Child" actress will receive American Riviera Award.

Annette Bening has been tapped to receive the American Riviera Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

The prize, which recognizes an actor who has had a strong influence on American cinema, will be presented to her on Jan. 28 at Santa Barbara’s Arlington Theatre.

“I fell in love with Annette Bening the moment I saw her on Broadway in Coastal Disturbances in 1987, SBIFF executive director Roger Durling said. “It was one of those 'a star is born' moments. Ever since, she's been one of my favorite actresses, and she will always have a home here at the festival.”

Bening, a three-time Oscar nominee, has appeared on screen this year in both The Kids Are All Right and Mother and Child.

The Santa Barbara fest runs from Jan. 27-Feb. 6.
