Viola Davis will receive the Woman of Style Award at the 20th annual gala.

Shopping for charity? It takes all the guilt out of it, if you ask me! After all, you're adding great pieces to your wardrobe and you're helping a good cause -- which is definitely true with the annual Divine Design Benefit. The gala takes place this Wednesday, Dec. 7 at the Beverly Wilshire, and the giant shopping space, which will preview that night but be open all weekend, will be held in the old Robinson's May space, as it has been for years.

This is how it works: a team assembles the event all year, and they call in to all the major designers to donate merchandise for Project Angel Food, which brings meals to the homes of AIDS patients who are incapacitated. They get everything from Juicy Couture sweats to Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la Renta gowns, leather jackets, handbags -- and every day, the prices go down. Those invited to the gala on Wednesday night will get the first crack at shopping, before and after the event, which we'll tell you about. Thursday night is VIP shopping. Then from Friday to Monday, Dec. 12, the space is open to the public to shop to their hearts' content -- and this is good Christmas gift giving ground.

At the 20th annual gala, awards will be given out as they have in years' past. Viola Davis will receive a Woman of Style Award. Patricia Field, best known for her costumes for Sex and the City, and its movies, will receive the Fashion Visionary Award. And Bouchon and French Laundry's Thomas Keller will be named iconic chef and restauranteur. Kristen Chenoweth will perform.

Now, if you're not going to the gala -- which certainly comes with a high priced ticket, funds going to Project Angel Food -- you can at least shop (guilt free, of course) from Friday to Monday.
