Deal for channel follows BBC moveSpanish commercial channel Antena 3 became the first Spanish broadcaster to launch its own channel within the YouTube Web site Monday, allowing community users access to series, news, clips and other Antena 3 properties.
The move follows the BBC's lead after the U.K. pubcaster signed a groundbreaking content deal with Google's YouTube for three channels, including one news and two entertainment channels.
Antena 3 will update the channel with 10-15 clips weekly for its primary shows, including late-night "Buenfuente" and magazines "Espejo Publico" and "En Antena" as well as freshly launched series "Cafeteria Manhattan" and "Los Hombres de Paco."
"The new Antena 3 channel in YouTube allows us to get closer to our audience in a different way and allows us the opportunity to attract new potential audiences thanks to this platform," said Giorgio Sbampato, general manager of new business for the broadcaster.
