Anthony Mackie to Play Johnnie Cochran in Signal Hill Movie
Mackie will reprise his role as Marvel superhero Falcon in this weekend's 'Captain America: Civil War'.
Anthony Mackie will be taking on the role of Johnnie Cochran in a movie that will center on the lawyer's landmark police brutality case in Signal Hill.
The untitled project will center on the 1981 court case that saw Cochran defending the family of college football player Ron Settles, who had been picked up for speeding and was later found beaten and hanged in his jail cell.
Cochran was recently portrayed by Courtney B. Vance in The People v. O.J. Simpson, FX's take on the highly publicized murder trial.
The Signal Hill movie was written by David McMillan and will be produced by Mackie, Jason Spire and Robbie Brenner. McMillan and Jeff Kwatinetz will act as executive producers.
Mackie can be seen on the big screen this weekend in Captain America: Civil War, where he will reprise his role as Falcon.
Next up he'll star as Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. in the HBO movie All the Way, and will play Jesse Owens in an upcoming biopic that he also will produce.
He is repped by UTA and Inspire.
