APA Names New Comedy Co-Heads
Jackie Knobbe and Max Burgos will replace Mike Berkowitz, who will depart the agency when his contract expires at year’s end.
APA has named Jackie Knobbe and Max Burgos to co-head its comedy department, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. They will replace Mike Berkowitz, who has led the department since 2011 and will be leaving the agency when his contract expires at year’s end.
The New York-based Knobbe has been serving as the agency’s senior vp of comedy since 2009, and she was named a partner in 2015. Burgos joined the talent department in 2012 and has focused on crossover clients and expanding the agency’s comedy touring roster.
APA’s comic lineup, which includes Tiffany Haddish, Lewis Black, Leslie Jones, Eddie Izzard, Tim Minchin, Jimmy Carr and The Daily Show’s Ronny Chieng and Dulce Sloan, is considered one of the agency’s signature strengths.
“Jackie and Max are two of the best agents in the business,” APA president and CEO Jim Gosnell said Wednesday in a statement. “Their creativity, tenacity and ‘unlimited’ approach to the careers of our clients will be instrumental as we continue to expand our footprint in the ever-evolving comedy arena.”
